Make sure you have enough alternate crankcase ventilation to handle WOT blow-by gas flow. I had a poppet PCV and changed it to a fixed orifice, and found that I did not have enough vent back to the air cleaner and therefore managed to damage the rear camshaft seal from over pressure. The one with the actual PCV valve goes into the intake manifold, where it can see vacuum. There's that taken care of. The vacuum hose won’t stand up to the oil that comes through this system. The fuel hose is designed for internal pressure. It will collapse under the vacuum of the PCV system. PCV hose is designed specifically so it won’t collapse. So insist on PCV hose, never fuel hose or ... Oct 18, 2019 · The PCV valve serves a few purposes: It stops excessive amounts of oil from being drawn out of the crankcase. It regulates the amount of Vacuum applied to the crankcase. At low rpm, when vacuum is high, the valve closes slightly to reduce airflow. At higher rpm, when vacuum is less, the valve opens more to increase airflow.
